Book Problem

I have a book problem. I thought that by building a huge wall-length bookshelf in my living room that I’d have enough space to house my book problem that would make it look a little more like…a book enthusiasm. All that did was make my brain say “Look how many more books you need! Until they’re piled up on the floor in front of the shelf, do you even read, brah?”

This picture shows half of my current TBR list. The half not pictured is the entirety of the Kingdom Hearts manga because I will read just about every manga recommended to me (please recommend to me a manga…)

My preferred genres are fickle, though. I can’t read a book that takes itself too seriously, unless it’s a self-help book. I also can’t read anything too close to real life because, well, I live in it. If I wanted a reminder of what life is like, I’d go where people are.

But weird or even slightly deranged books are definitely for me. I love love love the “John Dies At the End” series by David Wong/Jason Pargin. If you have wandered through those very unique pages, you know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t, go read “What the Hell Did I Just Read”. I’ll wait.

I’m currently down the first two Kingdom Hearts (Final Mix) books, and I’m taking a pause to read “The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels,” which is described on the cover as being “delightfully bonkers” and so far hasn’t disappointed.

I also have “This Book Is Full of Spider” by Jason Pargin queued up on my phone’s reader in case I find myself with a long wait without a book. To be in such a place is unlikely given that I choose my bags according to whether or not I can fit books in them, but always be prepared.

As I read, I hope to write up a little something about each book. Not necessarily a review because the time spent writing that could be time spent reading the next book, but at least a little bit to let you know my thoughts so you can, in turn, get a better idea of how messed up my little warped brain is.

If there’s a book on my TBR that you’d specifically like me talk about, let me know in the comments so I don’t skip it!

And that’s it, friends! The beginning of my book blogging. Maybe one of these days I’ll get around to starting some sort of book club. But one that actually reads books while they drink all that wine.
